Mentor Course Information

We are now taking applications for our next Mentor Training Course starting in Septembermber 2014.

Our very exciting news is that our courses are now accredited through Bath Spa University's Professional Masters Programme Mentoring and Coaching Award, for either postgraduate or undergraduate level credits. Alternatively, the modules can be taken purely as a Health Creation Training without academic study.

Module 1 - Health Creation Mentor Training

Our Mentors are trained to coach people through our three core programmes:

  • The Health Creation Programme
  • The Cancer Lifeline Kit
  • The Carer's Guide

The aim is to promote healing and positive change in health-defining behaviour both for individuals and in the workplace. The course has proven to be both a rich personal journey and a great professional opportunity for those seeking to make really positive personal change.

Our Mentors come from many different backgrounds united by an interest in and understanding of the effectiveness and importance of the holistic approach to wellness. Many work with individuals and others are connected to particular communites such as schools, hospitals and professional environments in which they are committed to offer support and promote behavioural change for the better.

Mentor Course Trainers

Dr Rosy Daniel is Medical Director of Health Creation and an internationally renowned Integrated Medicine Consultant. She was Medical Director of the Bristol Cancer Help Centre until 1999 and now runs the Regenerative Health Programme and practice in Bath. She is author of five books on the holistic approach to health and all the Health Creation Programmes. She also leads Britain's first Diploma in the Study of Integrative Medicine at the British College of Integrative Medicine of which she is Director.

Sue Caden is the Training Director and Mentor Course Tutor. She contributes her communication skills alongside her personal development and training experience gained through working as an Executive Training Consultant for 18 years.

Ruth Barrington is leader of the Postgraduate Mentoring and Coaching Programme at Bath Spa University

Course Structure and Content

The Health Creation Mentor Training takes place at four non-residential weekends over six months, with coursework to complete in between the weekend trainings and a skills assessment at the end of this six months. This is followed by a further six months of case study work at the end of which those on the academic pathway submit a 5000 word summative essay.

Weekend 1 - We will learn about:
The Health Creation Programme and its application with individuals to promote optimum health and well-being.

Weekend 2 - We will learn about:
The Cancer Lifeline Programme and the mentoring skills to guide, support and empower those with cancer.

Weekend 3 - We will learn about:
The Carer's Guide and its application in supporting carers to look after themselves, and enabling them to be really effective in this role.

Weekend 4 - Will involve:
Practical Assessment of Mentor skills and preparation for case study work.
